Experience and feel at home in the gorgeous atmospheric lush Virginia summer days with magical evenings highlighted by the bright twinkle of fireflies. Relax in a cozy comfortable cottage, canoe, fish, stargaze, bike and soak in the natural beauty of rural Albemarle County. Find yourself rejuvenated after a long walk on our wooded nature trails, see what Virginia native plants you might discover, catch sight of salamanders swimming at the water’s edge and spot a Painted turtle sunning itself or meandering on the trail. Cool off with a serene paddle in a canoe on the Montfair lake and enjoy the cool breeze that comes down from Pasture Fence Mountain. Fish for bass and bluegill to discover your inner fisherman. In the summer months birders will be excited to spot the threatened Wood Thrush, Scarlet Tanager, the Great Blue Heron, Night Heron, Green Heron, a Belted Kingfisher and an occasional White Egret.
Peaches are in season now! Henley’s Orchard is only three miles from your Montfair cabin. This special family owned and operated orchard offers over 15 different peach varieties. Plan an outing to pick your own peaches or stop by their Shed. Tim Henley will describe each variety.
