Montfair Celebrates Fall with Its 3rd Annual Open House

The Open House idea was begun in 2015 to celebrate our 50th year of business. This year’s festivities will begin at noon and will include hiking the wooded 128-acre property, fishing on the lake, canoeing and mountain biking. We are hosting this popular fall event, free of charge, to celebrate the natural beauty of the area.

“We love this time of year and we love sharing Montfair with the local community,” states Leora Sheridan-Vincenti, one of four sibling co-owners of Montfair Resort Farm. “We welcome our community to come see why Montfair is a popular wedding and vacation venue and to tour our rustic cabins that are open year round for the public.” Cabin tours will begin at 1 PM and 3:30 PM.

Mouth Wide Open, a local food truck, will be onsite, local bluegrass music will start at 2 PM and Henley’s Orchard will be on site with their old time cider press. They will press fresh cider, give out samples as well as sell ½ gallon and gallon jugs of cider.

Joe Sheridan, co-owner of Montfair and founder of Rustic Arts, has a passion for rustic creations and will provide a rustic chair making demonstration focusing on “Rush Weaving” or the seating of his rustic chairs at 2 PM.

Artist Leora Sheridan-Vincenti will lead a nature sketchbook walk at 3 PM. Bring your own journal and drawing pencils for this workshop. Participants will take a walk through the Montfair forest and will be encouraged to find something in nature that resonates with them to draw.

Montfair is teaming up with the International Refugee Committee GenR’s to collect coats for our local refugee community. Please bring any gently used or new adult medium and large sized coats and winter gear to the Open House. Size medium and large are needed most.

The day will conclude with a s’mores bonfire from 4 PM to 6 PM by the lake and a Children’s Lantern Walk lead by Tinkergarten Charlottesville at 5:30 PM.
