Whether you’re planning a peaceful solo retreat or organizing a vacation for grandparents, parents, kids, and even the family dog, finding accommodations that truly fit everyone’s needs can be a challenge. At Montfair Resort Farm, we’ve created a place where travelers can slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy time together.

Located just outside Charlottesville in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, our Charlottesville cabins offer the perfect balance of privacy, comfort, and outdoor adventure. From quiet mornings by the lake to evenings around the campfire, Montfair is designed for meaningful experiences, whether you’re traveling alone or with the whole family.

A Destination for Multigenerational Travel

Traveling with multiple generations often means balancing different schedules, interests, and comfort levels. The best trips allow everyone to spend quality time together while still having space to unwind. That’s exactly what makes Montfair unique.

Instead of squeezing everyone into one house, families can reserve multiple vacation cabins throughout the property. Each family enjoys their own private cabin, kitchen, bathroom, and living space while remaining just a short walk from one another. This setup makes it easy to:

  • Enjoy breakfast together before everyone heads out for the day
  • Give grandparents a quiet place to relax
  • Let parents maintain children’s routines
  • Provide everyone with privacy at the end of the day
  • Gather whenever you want without feeling crowded

For families looking for affordable vacations for large families, booking several cabins can often be a more comfortable—and flexible—alternative to renting one large, expensive, vacation home.

Spend the day canoeing, fishing, birdwatching, hiking, or enjoying a picnic on the property before exploring nearby attractions like Shenandoah National Park, local wineries, or Charlottesville’s historic sites. In the evening, gather around one of our reserved fire pits to roast marshmallows, share stories, and enjoy the mountain air together. Fire pits are available by reservation, simply contact the office before your stay to reserve one for your group.

Montfair Cottages to Book For Families Traveling Together

With nine eco-friendly cottages and the Beauchamp House all located on the same property, it’s easy to create your own family village. Everyone has their own space to relax while staying close enough to gather for meals, outdoor adventures, or an evening around the campfire. Montfair can accommodate up to 54 overnight guests across the property, making it an excellent choice for family reunions and other multigenerational getaways. Some great options for family groups include:

  • The Beauchamp House – The largest accommodation on the property, making it an ideal home base for grandparents or the central gathering place for shared meals, games, and family time. The guest house features two bedrooms both with queen size beds, two bathrooms, and a full size pullout futon in the living room.
  • Dogwood Cottage – Sleeps up to six guests and features two bedrooms with a queen size bed in each, making it a great choice for families with children or two couples. Its lakeside location and covered porch make it especially popular.
  • Butternut Cottage – Sleeps up to six guests and features two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with bunk beads. There is also a full size pull out coach in the living room. This is a great cabin choice for families with kids.
